Vanished into the clouds
In ‘The Tale of Genji’, the classic work of Japanese literature by Murasaki Shikibu, written in the early XI century, the chapter between chapters 41 and 42 – ‘Vanished into the clouds’ (Kumogakure) – was left blank, probably to evoke Genji’s death.
